ESP32 is a powerful WiFi+BLE MCU module that targets a wide range of applications. These range from a low-power sensor network to highly demanding tasks such as voice encoding, music streaming and MP3 decoding. At the core of the module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip*, which was designed to be customizable and adaptive. It has two CPU cores which can be controlled individually. The clock frequency is adjustable between 80 MHz and 240 MHz. You can also turn off the CPU and use the low-power co-processor to constantly monitor the peripherals for changes or exceed limits. ESP32 integrates a wide range of peripherals such as capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, low-noise sense amplifier, SD card interface, Ethernet, high speed SDIO/SPI, UART, I2S and I2C.
The integration of Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE and WiFi means that a wide range of applications can be used and that the module is suitable for the future: while WiFi has a long physical range and the possibility to connect to the Internet via a WiFi router, Bluetooth offers the user easy to connect to the smartphone or send low-energy beacons for detection. The power consumption in the sleep mode of the ESP 32 chip is less than 5 A, which makes it ideal for use in battery-powered or wearable electronics. ESP-Wroom-32 supports data rates of up to 150 Mbps and 22dBm output power on the PA.
